Jacob Karas, MD*

​Dr. Jacob Karas is the Director of Medical Education at North Shore Medical Center where he oversees all CME programs on both the Union Hospital and Salem Hospital campuses.   He is also the Vice Chairman of Medicine, and in that capacity is responsible for visiting professorships, ongoing professional practice evaluations and physician credentialing.  He chairs a number of hospital committees that focus on quality improvement and patient safety.

Dr. Karas has been a member of the Massachusetts Medical Society’s Committee for Accreditation Review since 2006, and he has served as chairman since 2010. This committee reaccredits CME programs for 43 hospitals, seven specialty societies and five other health care organizations on an ongoing basis.  Dr. Karas is also a board certified pulmonologist with an active practice at North Shore Medical Center.
