Description

This live, one-day course is designed to give medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and midlevel providers (e.g. nurse practitioners and physician assistants) updated information regarding the management of a broad spectrum of cancer types. Specialists from the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women's Hospital (together, the DF/BW Cancer Center, or DF/BWCC) will discuss specifically:
1. Considerations with respect to developments in immunotherapy
2. Management and treatment options for breast, genitourinary, lung, pancreatic, and hematologic malignancies
3. Radiation therapy management of spinal tumors
4. Considerations with respect to palliative care, opiates, and pain control

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

1. Interpret recent advances in breast, genitourinary, lung, pancreatic, pain management, and hematologic malignancies based on advances presented at recent conferences or in recent publications, and to discuss how these innovations will affect pathway-based oncology practice.
2. Recognize appropriate management and treatment options for breast, GU, Lung, hematologic malignancies, pancreatic and palliative care, and, where appropriate, utilize these approaches in routine clinical practice.
3. Interpret updates around immunotherapy for lung cancers, and apply these in routine clinical practice.
4. Evaluate new radiation approaches for spinal tumors, and understand benefits and risks associated with these approaches.

**This session is designed to meet the criteria for risk management study in Massachusetts, including for effective pain management and end of life.

Target Audience

This activity is intended for medical and radiation oncologists, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants from DFCI and DF/BWCC network locations including satellites, community practices, members of the Cancer Care Collaborative, and other regional affiliates of DF/BWCC.
