May 30, 2019
7:30 AM - 5:15 PM

The Inn at Longwood Medical
342 Longwood Avenue
Boston, MA 02114

Description

Sex and gender are increasingly recognized as the first elements of precision medicine, and understanding these variables' influences on health and disease is necessary to providing the best care to all patients. This live course, the first of an annual series, is designed to provide clinicians with up-to-date best practices in women's health across multiple disciplines.

Through didactic presentations and Q&A with experts across many specialties, faculty will discuss the latest clinical and translational research, including emerging areas of care in women's health such as trauma informed care (TIC) and updates in women's health policies. The course will equip participants with the resources to learn and implement changes in the delivery of care as well as increasing their knowledge of therapeutic options for women.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

1. Recognize sex and gender as integral elements to personalized medicine and women's health.
2. Describe differences in risk factors, presentation, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes for core medical conditions that affect women in different ways than men.
3. Determine how to apply sex- and gender-specific knowledge to clinical practice.

Target Audience

This activity is intended forphysicians, residents, fellows, and allied health professionals in general internal medicine, general gynecology, and family practice.
